Take away the "Approving Posts" Thing

Everytime we post a message or post a reply, it always says "Wait for approval for message to appear" something along this line, and I think this reduces the number of people from coming back to this site.

What I personally want from a forum site is to be able to post something and see someone's respond to that right away because I want to validate my reasoning or obtain new reasoning and post back a respond, but when you guys delay posts, it is very annoying.

If this regulation continues on this forum, I am going to leave it as well.

The only reason why this is in place is to reduce spam. My moderating the posts before they are visible reduces the useless posts and we filter the genuine ones.

But I understand where you're coming from, though, you account should now be fully active.

Hey Rob,

thanks for understanding, but may I suggest that perhaps instead of the "comment approval thing for new members" can you replace threads and users with a "reporting" option instead.

So for instance, if a user or thread is a spam, then people can click on the red button call "report." I think this is perhaps more efficient for the users and the forum moderators as well.

Imagine that every new members come to this forum for the first time. They post a comment or a question to test the water of the forum. They see "Approvals pending." Induces negative reaction. Negative feelings is now associated with the forum. Negative first impression. Loses potential members.

Well, at least the above senerio is what went for me.

I like the idea of this "approval pending" thing as it keeps the forum spam free and committed members from leaving, but at the same time if you guys are trying to get more users and more variety in the forum, then this is a con.
