Default Eating out of date choclate

Could someone tell me if there are any severe consequences for eating almost out of date chocolate.

I've just found a whole stash, and I don't want it to go to waste

I don't really see, how could there be any real consequences if chocolate in only "almost" out of date. As far as I know, best before dates are rather loose - or should I say they are set on a date that some food could go off most soon, but usually it doesn't. It's sort of set for safety. (Yes, there are cases when food goes off prematurely, but usually that's the case with food that hasn't been handed rightly, e. g. yoghurt not stored in a proper cool place, but chocolate is a more lasting kind of food, so I don't think there should be any problem with that ...)

Well, I always thought that eating out of date solid food wasn't as bad is liquids. But sometimes if its within the same month I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless of course it starts changing colour!
